This technique uses shock waves to disintegrate stones found in the kidney and urinary tract, allowing fragments to be passed out of the body with the urine. This non-invasive procedure uses little or no anesthesia and is performed on a flat, dry table top while watching TV.

Lithotripsy offers many advantages over surgical stone removal. With lithotripsy, there is an extreme reduction in complications and pain. The inconvenience and pain of a surgical incision are all avoided. Post-treatment complications are minimized, and recuperation time following the treatment is greatly reduced.
